Why does Copibec make payments to visual artists?
Whether you’re a photographer, painter, sculptor, illustrator, etc., your artistic works may have been included when publications were reproduced by Copibec users.
To compensate visual artists, Copibec sets aside funds for them, calculated as a percentage of the royalties paid by our users.
Register your works
Once a year, Copibec announces that registration is underway for the visual arts payment. The visual artists who are registered in the Copibec database are sent a reminder about updating their publication list.
If you’re represented by the Society for Reproduction Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers in Canada (SODRAC), that organization is in charge of giving us your information and paying you the royalties.

Your royalties and financial data
You can view your financial data at any time by going to the “My royalties” section of your Copibec account. Here’s what you can do there:
- View the stubs for all royalty cheques you’ve received
- Get information about your royalty sources
- Check whether a royalty cheque is still outstanding
- Find out the amount to indicate on your income tax return
